EXPATRIATION

Did you know that when an expatriation is terminated before the planned date, it is 9 out of 10 time because the family did not prosper?

An expatriation is a massive change, which is associated with many emotions. As an expat, it demands a lot to adapt to a new work place, and for the family as a whole, it can be difficult to adapt to a new country and a new culture.

However, an expatriation can also offer considerable potential for new rewarding experiences and personal development. It is therefore essential that both the expat and any family are prepared for upcoming new life, so that the stay becomes a positive and enriching period of the expat’s work life, and equally importantly, of family life.

REPATRIATION

To return from an expatriation may on the surface seem simple, as you are returning to the familiar and well known. The reality is often challenging when you feel that everything you thought you knew now may require familiarization and adaptation – both in work and family life.

Meanwhile, the expatriation has also meant that you have gained new insights and new competencies that can be valuable for your future personal and professional life. A training with a focus on repatriation will deal with identifying these competencies, and focus on how they come into play and how they can be used after you return home.

At the training, you can opt to make your individual culture profile using the tool called GlobeSmart. Through Globesmart you are able to compare your individual profile to a general profile for your nationality and for country you have been an expat in. This allows you to map the cultural competencies that you have gained and and form the basis for the design of new strategies for how toupon the return. We are also certified in a number of other personality tests, team and cultural tools, which you can choose to integrate in your training. See more here.

”I worked with Signe in preparation for an overseas posting in India. In one day I got a great overview, much good advice and useful feed-back on observations already acquired. All at a high level and very much worth its while.”
